Developed as a producing body for their inaugural Power Plays festival in the summer of 2026, poor players is self-funded by Erik Schiller and Kate McDuffie. They plan to produce more theatre when they can afford it.

Erik Schiller is a local actor, writer and director. Past credits include Dromio of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors (Nashville Shakespeare Festival), Michael in Fiction (Yellow Rose Productions), and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing (Scenic City Shakespeare).

Kate McDuffie is an arts administrator, occasional classical singer and avid volunteer, proudly serving on the Board of Remy Bumppo Theatre Company and as facilitator and Program Advisory Council member of A.B.L.E. (Artists Breaking Limits and Expectations) Ensemble.
